Designer Deconstructed: Class Info
Hey everyone! We are so excited for the inaugural Designer Deconstructed class. Thanks for joining us. A few items of business…
We will be supplying all materials for class except fabric (more on that below). In order to create the patterns for class we need to know what size outfit you want to sew. Both pieces are very loose fitting so keep that in mind. If you could shoot me an email with your desired top and bottom size requests—S,M,L sizing, not numbered—we’ll get working!
Sizing
You do not need to buy fabric for the first class. We will be doing sewing basics and completing a small project for which we’ll supply the fabric.
When you do buy fabric:
I recommend buying 3 yds for each piece. This should give you plenty, assuming that the bolt is at least 48” wide.
Buy woven, non-slippery fabric (poplin, broadcloth, twill, etc.—nothing stretchy or t-shirt like.) Cottons and cotton blends, linens, synthetics as long as they aren’t thin and silky.
Here are some resources now that Joannes is no more.
Mood Fabrics—the one from project runway! If you do buy from Mood, you may need to order sooner rather than later as they are shipping from NY
SAS Fabrics—our local shop. They have a location on Apache right near Pip at Culdesac.
Fabric Wholesale Direct—these guys are out of LA and are pretty affordable.
The Art Resource Center in Tempe can be a great place to check as well!
We also have a small selection of rescued fabric for sale here at very inexpensive prices. You’re welcome to check it out during the first class.
